Top par for Pendleton

Following a successful year of fundraising by the Russell Roof Tiles team, Regional Sales Director James Pendleton will be putting himself through a personal challenge in a bid to raise money for the firm’s nominated charities.

Having been a keen golfer for years James is taking part in a 72-hole Golf Marathon at his local club Leamington & County Golf Club on 4th August. James aims to raise further funds for two blood bikes charities which support the local communities of Dumfries & Galloway and Shropshire & Staffordshire.

Dumfries & Galloway and Shropshire & Staffordshire Blood Bikes are both volunteer-led, providing lifesaving medical supplies across NHS foundations, by transporting vital blood products, organs for transplant and other life-critical supplies.

Last year generous Russells’ staff and suppliers raised an impressive £24,000 – smashing its £20,000 target and enabling both charities to buy a much-needed new motorbike each.

James became a father earlier this year and the charity’s help for premature babies inspired him to attempt this fundraising challenge, he commented “I want to support these hugely worthwhile charities, as a regular golfer a golfing challenge seemed appropriate.”

James will play four rounds of golf, walking some 24 miles carrying his golf bag and playing an approx. 350 shots all in the space of 16 hours.

James added “For anybody who plays golf you will know that playing 18 holes a day is enough, especially if it’s with me, so to set the target of 72 holes is a big challenge.  This will be physically demanding, with the first ball being struck from the tee at 5:30 am and I expect to finish by 9:00pm that evening. “

Andrew Hayward, Managing Director at Russells added “I’d like to commend James for coming up with this fundraising idea and wish him all the best in his golfing challenge and urge everyone to dig deep and support him.”

Any donations will be gratefully received and will go towards saving many lives and make a huge difference to the families of those which are effected.
