Burton’s award-winning employer, Russell Roof Tiles is enticing jobseekers to its first ever Recruitment Day in January, to fill vacancies due to increased demand and growth at the firm.
The roof tile manufacturer, which was recently awarded Employer of the Year in the Burton Mail Business Awards 2016 – has a number of vacancies across maintenance, electrical engineering, production operatives, quality control and fork lift truck operators and distribution.
Taking place on Saturday 7 January at Russell’s Burton site on Wetmore Lane, potential employees will have the opportunity to meet the team, find out more about the roles available, have a tour of the site and see how products are made.
Russell’s Managing Director, Andrew Hayward said: “As a result of significant growth and expansion across the firm, we’re delighted to be hosting our first ever Recruitment Open Day.
“With the industry currently facing its largest skills gap in manufacturing and construction, we know that it is now more important than ever to attract and invest in good staff and nurture them. We cultivate a great family ethos at the company and understand that by helping its employees develop, the team and company will continue flourish. We reward long service and some of our employees have been with us for more than 40 years.”
Celebrating its 50th birthday last year, Russells currently employs a team of 180 across its two factories in Burton and one in near Lockerbie in Scotland. The company manufactures a range of concrete roof tiles and fittings for the pitched roofing market, used on residential and commercial projects across the UK.
This year has been a pivotal year for the firm, in which it celebrated its most successful year to date. Other highlights included the opening of Russell’s Technical Training and Research Centre on the Wetmore Lane site.
Russells also launched the John Gibson Bursary to encourage youngsters aged 16-24 into construction and engineering. The firm also partnered with its home town championship football team Burton Albion, as part of ongoing plans to support local sporting heroes and the community.
