A Big Quiz evening, hosted by Russell Roof Tiles, has raised a remarkable £8,550 for Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes and Shropshire.Staffordshire.Cheshire Blood Bikes.
The event was a triumph success with representatives from Russell’s parent company Crown Global Equity travelling from Texas, Mexico and Florida to join staff, customers and suppliers for an evening of competitive quizzing, charity raffles, an auction and food and drink at The Pirelli Stadium in Burton on Trent.
An impressive 48 teams battled it out for the ultimate Big Quiz champion title but it was Russell’s Production Director in Lockerbie, Bruce Laidlaw and his team Hadrian’s Fall who finally took home the prestigious title.
Andrew Hayward, Managing Director at Russell Roof Tiles said: “The Big Quiz was a fantastic evening that saw everyone come together for a brilliant night of quiz mania. An auction and raffle also proved to be very popular, contributing to the brilliant and final £8,550 total. I would like to thank everyone that attended the special evening and helped us raise even more money for the special cause.”
Having chosen Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes and Shropshire.Staffordshire.Cheshire Blood Bikes as its charities of the year, the Big Quiz was the latest in a series of events for the firm.
Staff raised £9,330 walking a gruelling 72-miles for the Hadrian’s Wall Challenge while others achieved a total of £3,500 perfecting their best ballroom routine for Dancing on the Tiles. Finally, keen golfers raised a further £7,600 competing for a hole in one during two golf tournaments for the charities.
Both charities are volunteer led relying purely on donations to run the service, providing lifesaving medical supplies across NHS foundations, with the transportation of vital blood products, organs for transplant and other life-critical supplies for the younger generation, such as premature babies. This is where every minute counts in helping seriously ill and injured patients.
Andrew added: “Having seen the wonderful staff at Russell Roof Tiles raise an impressive £24,000 last year for both Blood Bike charities, it is great to have seen everyone go the extra mile (literally!) and raise even more this year. Both charities work incredibly hard to provide a vital and lifesaving service and I could not be prouder to see them benefit from Russells’ amazing efforts.”
