Russells hits milestone with new product

Pioneering roof tile manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles is experiencing strong demand for its Country Stone product, having seen a significant growth in sales this year.

Country Stone was launched just 12 months ago and is one of three colour varieties in Russells’ newest thinner leading edge (TLE) collection, the Natural Range.

Each high-tech man-made tile offers the appearance of natural stone tiles which ensures the roof tile can replicate other roofs in the area easily and meet the necessary requirements of the local planning conditions. Its concrete material promises consistency and longevity, minimising the life time costs of the roof once installed.

Russells believes the strong growth is a result of its cost-effective benefits and the increased demand for TLE tiles by developers and contractors.

Andrew Hayward, Managing Director at Russell Roof Tiles said: “Following our expansion in the south of the UK, we experienced ongoing requests for roof tiles that replicated natural stone roofs in areas such as the Cotswold and Oxford. As a result, we introduced three new stone coloured varieties in the Natural Range to meet this demand.

“It is great to see the product’s continued growth and now we are now enjoying seeing a number of finished housebuilding projects, which all feature the Country Stone.”

Of these developments, The Paddocks, which is set in the popular village of Abingdon, South Oxfordshire, was the first scheme to feature the innovative Country Stone product.

Working closely with David Wilson Homes, Russells provided £75k worth of its Galloway tiles in Country Stone after the developer required a cost-effective but long-lasting solution for its homes.

The tiles have already been used across 20 new properties at The Paddocks and will be used across a further 55 houses – including a mixture of two, three and four-bedroom homes.

Rob Allen, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “Our new development The Paddocks is bringing much-needed, quality built homes to the area for a variety of different homebuyers and we are delighted to be using these products on our scheme.”

Other varieties in the Natural Range includes Autumn Stone and Harvest Stone. Like all of the firm’s thinner leading-edge range, the Natural Range is manufactured using 15 per cent less raw materials than a standard flat interlocking tile. So that also means they’re a “greener” choice is delivered to site in fewer batches and also create less packaging.

Russell Roof Tiles is a leading independent roof tile manufacturer providing products for leading UK house builders and high-profile social housing and commercial projects, where sustainability and eco-credentials are of the utmost priority.
